Thought we would keep you up-to-date (or in other words, brag) about shows we have seen/are going to see.
Our local cinema is in Stratford. This suburb seems a bit rough, but it's alright. We went and saw "Run, Fat Boy, Run". It's made by the same guys who made "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz". We liked the previous movies, so we gave this one a go. It was pretty funny for a movie you don't have to think about. Kept our minds of the fact that the cinema we were in smelt really dank and old.
Good bits: Dylan Moran (Black Books), Hank Azaria (voice of Moe, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Snake, Comic Book Guy, Cletus...), David Walliams (Little Britain) and Stephen Merchant (The Office). Bad bit: Directed by David Schwimmer (that jerk from Friends). You could tell he had directed it in some of the scenes.
Not really sure when it is going to make it to Australian shores, no mention of it on the major cinema websites.
For my birthday, nerdboy is taking me to see "Avenue Q". Our flatmate raved about it and we seem to have similar tastes, so it should be good. I expect that it will be at the Comedy Festival in Melbourne next year, so I will definitely let you know what we thought.
In return, I am taking him to see 'Les Miserables' for his birthday. A show nb saw when he was younger and would love to see again. I have read the book and we've both seen the movie (the Liam Neeson/Geoffrey Rush version) and would love to see the show.
We were at Covent Garden Market on Sunday afternoon. I read in the paper yesterday that Elle Macpherson was there at the same time. Probably haggling for some cheap fruit and veg.
p.s. new photies have been put up on flickr. Just look down the right hand side of this page.
