Very excited to receive this little envelope in the mail today - yippee!

Birth certificates from the UK! It only took 5 days to get here and a week earlier than the General Register Office anticipated. I remember being told years ago that there was a discrepancy about the dates regarding my Pa's birth. What he knew to be his birth date and what is recorded are two different dates. Apparently this is quite common and nb's Old Man is in the same boat. However, I thought it was usually only a difference of about a day. So it was quite interesting to see that the birth certificate is 10 days different to the date that was given by Pa.
On another note, going to see Eskimo Joe at the Palais in May with Paulsie & Phuc. Should be grouse. Seriously considered flying up to Newcastle to see them the week before our wedding last year. Decided in the end that it was probably too crazy an idea... Phuc saw them while we were away, the lucky thing.
nb and I can be considered hardcore fans according to a discussion we had with Phuc at the Make Povery History gig. Apparently the Eskimo Joe song called "Forever Young" had to be changed to another name, to not be confused with that other tacky song by the same name that got flogged to death on commercial radio. I think it's by Youth Group. Anyhoo, Eskimo Joe changed their song to "Setting Sun", so all the album sleeves etc were changed. I checked our album when we got home and we have "Forever Young" which probably makes us music geeks, because we bought the album on the day it came out. Therefore, missing out on the Eskies having to cave to the whim of the 'suits'.
File that one away in the useful trivia section kiddies!

ng's Old Man gave away another daughter on Friday, the third sister to get married in the space of 15 months. Beautiful wedding, the bride and groom looked stunning. The expected thunderstorm didn't come through, so the weather remained hot, hot, hot.
We both completed the Melbourne Summer Cycle on Sunday, a 30km ride around Melbourne. Got to ride over the Westgate Bridge, which was just awesome. If anyone's interested (because you all know how competitive I am - I can't help it!), just like the City to Surf, I beat nb. Though I must record his excuses:
City to Surf - I had shin splints!
Melbourne Summer Cycle - I thought you were behind me so I waited for you twice along the route. I waited for 10 minutes at the base of the Westgate. Didn't you get my text messages?! (no, because I had already caned past you kilometres earlier and I am an athlete man! I don't have time to be checking no damn text messages when I am in the zone!).
What a good husband he is :)
We have so much stuff to collate to get this Ancestry Visa in order. Have to get a new passport (new last name), what seems to be 50 million birth certificates, marriage certificate, photos and a manner of all other different things to prove who we are and that we are legitimate upstanding citizens. The government websites you have to negotiate are woeful and they charge a bomb for these certificates!! We have been looking for a quite a while now at job and rental websites in the UK. Well all the applications for certificates have been sent, just have to wait to receive them to send the whole lot to the British Consulate in Canberra with even more money.
Happy 5th Birthday Blake - so sorry that we can't spend it with you in Tassie. Hope you had a really fun day and liked the present we sent.
Went and saw a taping of Spicks and Specks tonight. It was awesome. Adam Hills is just grouse. We got question cards autographed by Adam, Myf (absolute stunner) and Alan. Went with good friends Bec & Brendan, who are travelling to the UK this year. Will definitely be catching up with them over there. Bec is a mad Carlton fan - I must ask her if she is going to be missing the Grannie by being there around September?? Though I don't think our boys will make it, they've had a bit of a rough trot these last few years. Guess we will have to get a "real football" team this year... I only know ManU. The boy is more up with it, having played it.
Seeing Spicks made us excited for the upcoming Comedy Festival. Definitely seeing Adam Hills. We are toying with the idea of seeing Danny Bhoy (Scottish) and Dylan Moran (Irish). Though they can be pretty predictable. Nobody else really cuts the mustard at the moment.
Had a week off this week. Planned on doing all the stuff I never get around to doing, but then never got around to it. Did the important stuff, like an initial consult with my physio, who has diagnosed this, which is not fun. Must do the exercises. Nick (the PT) says to just go and see the physio once and just do the exercises he says, no need to go back. We'll see. If I didn't do all those bloody lunges and squats maybe I wouldn't be in this position...
A lazy week, caught up for lunch in town with Phuc, had a beautician appointment, Amanda did my hair (darker than normal, but I like it), session with Nick and Emily's kitchen tea. Allie stayed overnight beforehand and we made slices. Hers was awesome, mine was crap. Should have just made a cake in the penis cake tin I got for my kitchen tea. Would have gone down a treat with the oldies.
Have now told all our friends. Most are really excited about it, quite a few already have plans of travelling to the UK next year, so will be awesome to catch up with them for a few lagers.
