I love this town. I love the atmosphere, fashion, their manner and I am even loving the weather. Yeah, I know. It's only autumn.
It was destined to happen, I left my umbrella on the tube yesterday. But a nice chap hung out the door just before the train left the station to ask if I had left it behind. What a gent! I wouldn't have actually minded losing the blasted thing, it wasn't really made for the weather over here. We tried ordering new umbrellas, but it appears they are so good - they are out of stock.
Am loving the fashion. There are just too many shops with too many nice things. I have bought two new jackets and a few pairs of shoes. The Aussie dollar is not stretching very far, so we are not spending all that much. Until we earn the pound that is. On that front, things are ticking along well. Won't say anything just yet - don't want to jinx ourselves.
We never noticed any homeless people last time we were here. This time, there seems to be someone begging around every corner. It's so sad, because it's so cold outside. They have signs everywhere telling you to not give money to beggars. We caught the overland train the other night (like our normal train system in Oz) and a very polite voice said over the PA:
"Occasionally beggars get on these trains. Please do not encourage them. Please report any beggars you see to a member of staff".
Little things like that really make me think "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore".
My fellow companion has mentioned that I am posting too many entries. If you feel the same, please direct any complaints to www.getstuffedicanblogasmuchasiwant.co.uk *

Oh yeah, on another note. We have extended our stay at our current place, so we can ease back on looking for new digs for a little while longer.
