Looked at our first place today. It was up on the third floor. Don't really fancy living somewhere that high up again. Pain in the arse bring shopping home and stuff.
Though that is a minor gripe. The major gripe is that the entire entrance and stairwell smelled of wee. It was most likely rising damp, which absolutely stinks. It's quite an issue over here, you have to be mindful of it. We have a kick-ass dehumidifier, but then we aren't leaving it out in the hall, are we?
The flat itself was lovely and had been done up really nice.
Though the absolute biggest gripe would have to be the amount that has to be paid to the agent. 30 quid each for them to do a credit check on us. 100 quid for them to draw up a lease (tenant pays). 600 quid holding deposit to the agent. This then forms part of your actual deposit if your application is successful. If you are knocked back because of an undesirable credit reference check or you decide to back out of the application, say ta-ta to that 600 quid.
Ludicrous!
