To give a bit of an update, my friend went with her gut and said no. Management at the place were pretty good about it.
However, they said they still wanted her to definitely stay on as a contractor - and today promoted her to boot.
So, she took home a very expensive bottle of bubbles to share with her flatmates to celebrate.
I haven't drunk any alcohol in weeks, so it was nice to have something a bit posh. It was amazing and I am now going by the motto that life is too short to drink cheap champagne. What a good friend I have.
