Happy New Year - Happy Hogmanay

To kick off the Hogmanay (new year) festivities, we joined the torchlight procession. It was fantastic. Over 4000 people with flaming torches, many of them weans which made it a bit nerve racking. At the end, the viking boat and stag (made of straw) were set alight. To avoid the crowds when we left, we walked back down a bit earlier. As we got to the bottom of the hill, a fireworks display started. They were the most fantastic fireworks we had ever seen. As we were standing on the road watching them, it felt like you could almost reach out and touch them. If this is what they do to mark the start of the hogmanay festivities, what's it gonna be like tonight?

So tonight we have bought tickets to the ceilidh, which is traditional scottish dancing. Can't wait! So we will see in the new year with lots of booze and dancing and I am sure I will have a bit of a greet for the 2007 that was.

Here's a little poem for you all for the new year -

May the best ye hae ivver seen be the warst ye'll ivver see.
May the moose ne'er lea'yer girnal wi a tear-drap in its ee.
May ye aye keep hail an hertie till ye'r auld eneuch tae dee.
May ye aye juist be sae happie as A wuss ye aye tae be.

Translation:

May the best you have ever seen be the worst you will ever see.
May the mouse never leave your grain store with a tear drop in its eye.
May you always stay hale and hearty until you are old enough to die.
May you still be as happy as I always wish you to be.

So that's us for 2007. It's this little site's blogiversary tomorrow. One whole year of you guys reading my shite. Good on ya's.

p.s. after posting this realised that this blog is still in Australian time, so it has been posted as 1/1/08. It's actually 3pm on New Year's Eve here. But cause it has posted ahead of time, happy birthday Suz. Have a good one old girl.
