Christmas

Have never really been a big fan of Christmas. Too much stress, drama and bullshit for my liking. Through the years it has been your normal Aussie Christmas - bloody hot, you still had the full cooked roast, someone/several people would hate their presents and someone/several people would do their rag. The Christmas music is piped in the shopping centres straight after Fathers Day in September, so it is crammed down your throat for far too long.

But over here, it all seems so right! It's dark at 3.30, so all the lights look so pretty. Now I don't know if it is just where I am, but the lights are subtle, not freaking-ridiculous-what-is-your-carbon-footprint kind of variety.

We went ice skating outside last week and it was just beautiful. We also went to Convent Garden for Christmas dinner with friends last night. Before we got to the restaurant, we bought mulled wine from a street vendor and looked at the market stalls.

It just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. Have decided I love northern hemisphere Christmas.

Though I am wondering if it has something to do with the fact that we aren't doing any Christmas shopping? Nerdboy and I are buying presents for each other in the January sales. Online of course.
