Welcome back to the dark ages

Sorry I haven't been letting people know how things are going. We are ok. I will try to get back to telling our little stories of our expedition. Thinking of that, I should probably update the little byline I have at the top of this page. Should probably do something about the counter on the side too eh?

We are finding that there are not enough hours in the day. Once you get home it seems like you have only been in for 5 minutes and it is time for bed.

Still learning heaps of quirky little things. Though most of the time, these are being learnt the hard way. With a lot of the administrative processes over here, it is just assumed that you know what to do in certain situations.

This has meant that although I have now been working for 6 weeks, I am yet to be paid. Though I have been promised there will be money in my account tomorrow. However, that money won't be cleared until Tuesday, so I won't have access to it until then (before you ask, no, it isn't deposited by cheque - things like that just take that long over here).

I have applied for internet banking for my business bank account (as I am contracting through my own limited company). I was kindly informed by my bank on Monday night that the letter with my internet banking details will be printed on Thursday. They are so lovely to you when they are telling you this kind of thing you can't really carry on at them about the ridiculousness of it all. You just say thank you very much and make sure you pronounce your vowels properly, cause otherwise they can't understand you.

It has been interview central for NB this week, so things are ticking along nicely there.

So glad it's Friday tomorrow. We are going to Australia House on Saturday morning to vote. Quite a shock to see Kevin Rudd's face grinning at me from the free paper you get on the tube this morning. Just a reminder telling Aussies to vote.

Though I am pretty positive that my name on the electoral roll is in my maiden name. My hot tip is that they won't let me vote because I don't have any ID in my maiden name over here. Except for my marriage certificate and I am not going to all that effort to pull that out to vote for any of those baboons.
